While I know many of us are physically isolated today because of the pandemic, or difficult family circumstances, I promise you, you’re never alone.
I have …complicated feelings about the origin of this holiday (and I’ve never liked turkey!), but the importance of gratitude practice, and a sense of family and community – belonging – can’t be overstated.
Here’s a free task for today: Write a list of five things you’re grateful for – anything like friends, pets, health, financial stability, even things commonly taken for granted like electricity, clean running water, internet, the simple fact that trees make oxygen for us to breathe, etc.
Perhaps you can even manage to find a scrap of gratitude for difficult aspects of your life that you’ve overcome, that have made you stronger – as well as the sheer titanium-clad gonadery itself of having overcome them! high five!
Sit with it, and soak it in. Really reflect on it.
Later, be open to more experiences of gratitude in your daily life as you move through your day. You may well find it glimmering in unexpected places, and when you do, increase your focus, hold it in your attention, and allow it to leave a lasting impression on your mind, at least for a little bit. It matters. You matter.
Happy Thanksgiving, dolls. We have so much to be thankful for, I promise. ❤
